About the Author
Tamika Vonshá Brinson means “beautiful child, the poetic one from brimstone,” but she uses the artist name Mika Vonshá. She is a musician, dancer, and creative entrepreneur. She is also the writer and editor of For the Creatives: a blog for creative entrepreneurs. She has received several brass ensemble awards for trumpet and soprano awards for voice – including Jazz All-State Music Festival acceptance. In 2011, she earned her degree in dance from Smith College. She has done post-graduate work in arts integrated learning towards her master's in education from Lesley University. Mika also holds a certificate from Berklee College of Music in Copyright Law. She completed a Go-to-Market Strategy Business Accelerator in 2022 with her friend and business partner for Just Right Movement: a space for black women to get fearlessly creative. They were awarded grants through the New England Foundation of the Arts and Center for Story-based Strategy. Mika has recently been awarded with a grant from Just Flow as well as a golden-ticket for the global tech company ServiceNow where she practices integrating her creative background in tech and business. When she is not writing For the Creatives, teaching through the arts and movement, her days are filled with managing home improvement projects, board sports and enjoying time with her children.
